Hub Controller
Latest Terminus Technology USB 2.0 and BC 1.1-compliant chipset supports efficient data transfers for maximum performance across all devices with minimal power draw. Low power consumption is achived with 0.18um technology and declocking/depowering of unused ports and parts of chip not currently in use.
USB Charging
When used with Battery Charging 1.1 (BC 1.1) compliant devices, able to fast charge at 3x normal USB 2.0 rate (1.5A), up to a total max of 2.5A. Search for "Plugable BC 1.1 compatible" for our list of known compatible devices. When used with non-BC 1.1 devices, this is a standard USB 2.0 hub, requiring a host computer to be attached and on to charge devices at the USB 2.0 max 500mA rate. Has no special support for Apple extensions for charging iPad/iPod at higher rate, as Apple devices are not yet BC 1.1 compliant. Does not charge iPad while its screen is on.
Kindle
Supports charging four Kindle Touch devices at full rate simultaneously, using the Touch's own included cable, without the need for an attached computer. Supports fast charging of up to two Kindle Fires simultaneously, with or without an attached computer. Kindle Fire charging requires a standard USB A male to micro-B cable to connect Fire to hub (the same cable that is included with the Touch, but not with the Fire). The basic Kindle (non-Touch) requires an attached computer to be on to charge at full rate.
